At 19:04 the Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 25 Bittner Road for a reported motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Chief Jim Carbin (3266) arrived on scene confirming single vehicle with heavy entrapment and serious injuries. Engine 3275 (J. Wagner) and Rescue 3285 (Fiore) arrived on scene. Both crews immediately went into service with tools and performing patient care. Crews removed the driver side door and roof in order to gain access for patient removal. Chief Carbin requested a Medevac for rapid transport with Tower 57 establishing the landing zone behind the Clarksburg Inn. The patient was transported by Millstone Rescue Squad to the landing zone and met with Paramedics and Northstar. The patient was flown to Helene Fuld Trauma Center. The accident is under investigation by the NJSP.
A man was rescued from the basement of his home after a fire engulfed the kitchen early Sunday morning. At 4:30 a.m., firefighters from the Millstone Township Fire Company’s “B Platoon” responded to a residence on Stillhouse Road for a report of a fire alarm. Fire Chief Jim Carbin arrived at the scene and confirmed a working fire in the kitchen. He also learned there was a resident still inside the home. Carbin told the Asbury Park Press that a boy ran outside the home, and told firefighters his father was still inside. According to the fire company’s Facebook page, firefighters entered the home and located the man in the basement. He was rescued and the fire was quickly extinguished.
At 13:02 the Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Millstone Road and Perrineville Road for a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Brush 3294 (Maloney) arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident with the driver of one vehicle heavily entrapped and seriously injured. A medevac was requested to fly with Tower 57 (Monroe Fire District #2) directed to establish a landing zone at the Millstone Township Little League Fields. Engine 3275 arrived on scene with the crew splitting to perform patient care and extrication. Chief Carbin (3266) arrived and assumed command. The Engine crew removed the rear drivers side door and popped the drivers door in order to perform a rapid extrication. They were assisted by the crew from Rescue 3285. The patient was transported to the landing zone by Monroe EMS and MONOC Paramedics. The patient was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton by Medevac MONOC 1. Two additional patients were transported by Monroe EMS to Princeton Medical Center. The accident was investigated by the New Jersey State Police.
Freehold Independent and Millstone Township Fire Companies participated in a joint drill sharpening their Tanker Shuttle skills. Many parts of the county are without hydrants requiring Tankers to provide on the spot water. In many cases water needs to be pumped and shuttled from longer distances utilizing multiple agencies to provide the water needed.
At 07:47 the Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid to Upper Freehold Township, for a motor vehicle with entrapment on Interstate 195 MM 10.3, Westbound. Engine 8282 (Niwore) arrived to find a 3 vehicle accident which included a SUV overturned with the driver entrapped, companies to go in-service with a roof removal. Lt. Maloney (32-2-70) arrived and established command. Rescue 3285 (Buckalew) arrived and the crew’s of the engine and rescue worked together to complete stabilization with rescue struts. Both crews place hydraulic cutters and sawzalls into service effecting a roof removal. Crews assisted EMS with patient removal and packaging. EMS units from Allentown, Robbinsville Fire and Plumsted Fire also responded.
